Sadly, pain control is often overlooked in our companion animals. At Animal House, however, it is the cornerstone of the care we provide. Every disease process diagnosed or procedure performed has some level of associated discomfort or pain which must be recognized and managed. We use a multimodal approach and tailor an individual plan to every pet considering all of the variables that affect the outcome and level of pain experienced. Pain Control & Management
1. Osteoarthritis
OA is a progressive, degenerative disease that worsens over time and it is one of the most common chronic diseases of our fur family (and often ourselves!). It is important to understand that the focus is management rather than cure. Success means maximizing your pet’s comfort and function while minimizing pain and taking steps to slow the progression of the disease such as weight loss in an overweight pet. Some tools we use to manage osteoarthritis are:
